Privacy Policy

Belcooker ("the app", "we") is a personal project run by Rodrigue Philippe, developed in Belgium. This page explains what data is collected when you use the app, why, and what your rights are.

Data we collect

Account: your email address, your display name, and a profile picture if you add one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google profile picture.

Content you create: your recipes, ingredients, tags, kitchen tools, meal plan, shopping list, pantry, expenses, as well as the ratings, comments, or reports you post on public recipes.

Household: if you invite other people into your household, they can see the data you share (recipes, pantry, shopping list, expenses).

Notifications: if you enable push notifications, we store the technical identifier of your browser needed to send them to you.

Technical data: like any website, our host (Vercel) keeps standard technical logs (IP address, timestamp) for security and operational purposes.

We do not resell any data. On public recipe pages (accessible without an account), we display ads via Google AdSense to fund the project — see the "Cookies and advertising" section below for details and your choices.

Why we use it

• To run your account and its features (recipes, planning, groceries, budget);
• To enable sharing within your household, if you activate it;
• To send you the notifications you have explicitly enabled;
• To ensure the security and proper functioning of the service;
• To moderate public recipes shared by users.

Who your data is shared with

Your data is processed by the following technical providers, solely to operate the app:

• Stack Auth — login and account management;
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google;
• Neon — database hosting;
• Cloudinary — photo hosting (recipes, profile);
• Vercel — app hosting;
• Open Food Facts — receives only product names (no personal data) to look up their nutritional values;
• Google AdSense — displays ads on public recipe pages accessible without an account, to fund the project.

None of this data is sold. Except for Google AdSense, none of these providers uses your data for advertising purposes as part of their use by Belcooker.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept as long as your account exists. If you request deletion of your account, your personal data and content are deleted, except what the law requires us to keep.

Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you can do the following directly from your account ("My account" page):

• export all of your data in a readable format (JSON);
• permanently delete your account and your data.

You can also ask rodrigue.philippew@gmail.com at any time for access to the data we have about you, or to correct inaccurate data.

You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (APD) if you believe your rights are not being respected.

Cookies and advertising

We use only one cookie that is strictly necessary for your login (authentication session). No audience-measurement cookie is used.

On public recipe pages, accessible without an account, we display ads via Google AdSense to fund the project. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a consent banner is shown before any advertising cookie is set, letting you accept, refuse, or customize your choice. You can change this choice at any time via that banner, or directly from your Google ad settings at myadcenter.google.com.

If you refuse, non-personalized ads may still be shown, without using a tracking cookie. To learn more about how Google uses data when you visit a site that shows its ads, see the Google Partner Sites policy.

Minimum age

Belcooker is not designed for children and is not specifically aimed at an audience under 16.

This policy may evolve along with the app. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
